Day 12 – Radolfzell-am-Bodensee and spring weather

We met our lovely hosts in the morning who wanted to check all was ok with our accommodation.  The accommodation was great except the combination of a very warm apartment and a duvet thick enough to keep one warm in the arctic was not conducive to sleep.  A couple of blankets were supplied along with some ideas for things to do here.

It had been our intention to do some cycling while we were here but the weather put paid to that as it was about 7 degrees outside and showers were regularly coming through.  The bike gear we had would not have been sufficient to keep us warm.

We had been given a couple of recommendations for eating and we went along to one of them which was  a local traditional  restaurant.  We had a lovely meal and even got to speak to a young couple who were seated with us.  They were social care workers from near Freiberg and they were visiting the young woman's parents who were being introduced to the boyfriend.

We then went to an island called Mainau which is renowned for its flowers.  However, it needed at least 2 – 3 hours which we did not have to do it justice, plus the frequent showers and the cost decided us against doing that.

Konstanz was close by so we had a look around there before fading light and rain forced us back to our accommodation.

From what we have seen it is a larea and when the weather is good it would be wonderful to go cycling.  There are many dedicated cycle paths.  What surprised me was that even in the inclement weather they were being used.

Only the hardy and smokers are outside in this weather
